Two friends haul a goldfish out of the sea that can grant their most secret wishes. Theatre Houže brings this familiar fairy-tale motif to life in a contemporary, playful and humorous rendition. Using puppets, striking visual imagery and direct engagement with young audiences, the adventurous story poses a deeper question: do fulfilled wishes always bring true happiness? The performance gently reminds us that even friendship has its boundaries and requires care. After all, a true friend isn’t someone who drags you down, but someone you can rely on.
The Goldfish is a joyful tale about grand desires, human greed (which is at least as vast as the fish in the sea) and the true value of friendship. When miraculous wishes suddenly start coming true, arguments and quarrels are only a step away!
Theatre Houže is an independent puppet theatre established in 2017. Its work builds on the tradition of itinerant, fairground and folk puppetry, developing it through contemporary dramaturgical and staging techniques. Their repertoire features original productions for children and adults, often inspired by historical figures, literary sources or societal themes that draw parallels to the present day. The theatre regularly tours domestic and international festivals, performing in traditional venues as well as unconventional public spaces.
