What happens when a fairy tale goes wrong? What if familiar stories harbour secrets of their own? Hansel and Gretel step into a forest that no longer resembles the safe haven of childhood tales. The classic motif turns into a playful puppet detective story filled with bizarre clues and unexpected twists. Fragments of the story piece together like a mystery case while the forest comes alive as a shifting stage populated by objects, imagery and absurd situations.
Nothing is as it seems, and classic fairy-tale logic no longer applies. Yet beneath its witty and adventurous surface lies a story about courage, friendship and overcoming fear. The Brutal Dark Forest is a fast-paced family production blending suspense, humour and inventive puppet poetics for children and adults alike.
