An original project created by 2nd-year students at the Department of Puppetry at the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava. Comprising four theatrical miniatures — Alright Then, The Radio, Honour to Work and Wafers — the project stems from research into the students’ own family trees, traditions and unexpected ancestral events. Personal memories, family lore and heirlooms serve as the foundation for intimate monodramas using objects and materials to explore memory, identity and the invisible threads binding past and present.
The Department of Puppetry at VŠMU (established in 1989) is the only university department in Slovakia offering higher education in animated form theatre. It prepares future puppeteers, directors, dramaturges, set designers and puppet technologists, blending traditional techniques with contemporary object, visual, physical and experimental theatre.
