What does it take to create a safe space? In childhood we build forts out of blankets, chairs and pillows — constructing tiny, protective worlds that shield us while unleashing our imagination. The performance BAU returns to this fundamental human need to build a place to call home. Eliška Brtnická, alongside performer Mattia Comisso, explores the relationship between body, material and space.

Rooted in object theatre, physical performance and contemporary circus, BAU shuns flashy effects to focus on detail, gravity and physical dialogue. The innocence of building forts gradually intersects with themes of fragility, insecurity and displacement. Moving between concrete imagery and abstract movement composition, BAU reminds us just how strong — yet vulnerable — our created spaces really are.
