Every “why?” is the beginning of a new discovery. The latest instalment of the popular Toddler Theatre (Batolárium) series invites the youngest audiences into a world where simple questions turn into imaginative adventures. Inspired by the poetic worlds of Pavel Čech and Milena Lukešová, it creates a sensitive stage space where puppets, objects, movement, music and visual imagery become the native language of childhood curiosity.
The production doesn’t look for correct answers; instead, it celebrates the joy of discovery, the wonder of seeing the world through open eyes and the courage to ask questions over and over again. And Why? is a tender, playful and visually captivating theatrical experience that naturally connects toddlers and parents in shared exploration.
Theatre at the Crossroads (Bábkové divadlo na Rázcestí) has operated professionally in Banská Bystrica since 1960. Since the early 1990s it has systematically developed original theatre bridging puppetry, drama, movement, visual arts and performance. Catering to children, teens and adults, its repertoire opens up vital social topics. The theatre also hosts the international festival Bábkarská Bystrica and stands as one of Slovakia’s premier puppetry centres, celebrated for its experimental courage and artistic excellence.
